Weaving fabric is as traditional as weaving a tall tale along the Miramichi. When you visit the historic Doak schoolhouse, you’ll be schooled in the bygone art of weaving by either the Squire or his Missus in their period costumes. You’ll tour a restored 19th-century barn and house on the site, and take an up-close look at furniture, dishes, linens and farming tools owned by Squire Doak, after whom the village of Doaktown is named. The weaving material and looms for your lesson are supplied, along with expert instruction. Your finished sample of ‘Miramichi Tartan’ will be a lifelong reminder of your weaving experience.
